Jabin Law

Music

Jabin Law is a Hong-Kong-born singer-songwriter. Some will say that his music is bearing the weight of urbanism.
Nurtured by Dylanology and 90’s alternative rock movement, Law has been writing hundreds of songs since 2012.

Reminiscing the melancholy of his youth, in 2014, Law debuted his double-disc demo album Day and Night.
In 2016 he published his first self-funded folk album The Suns. Heavily influenced by the finger-style playing and singing of Nick Drake, he turned to explore death, existentialism and subconsciousness.

After two years, Jabin released But Tonight, The Boulevard Is Mine (2018). The album delicately crafted his guitar repertoire in early years and accented the flow, temperature and rhythm of his works, and thus delivered the desolation of urban life. A Bite Of Hell (2019) personifies himself as narrators such as inmates and victims of bullying to reveal the struggles between desperation and optimism. Emboldened by the candour of American folk music and hysteria of grunge, the singer-songwriter, through his works, aims to resist the futility of any hope or despair of Hong Kong social movement.

Law’s fourth album Ahistorical (2021) was not only a testimony of his emotional transformation, but a process of self-reflection. During the hard times of isolation during COVID, he invited new friends and acquaintances to express their desperation, which eventually turned into this 20-song double album.

Currently, Law resides in London.
